This advanced acting class, "Role Immersion," is meticulously designed for actors seeking to elevate their craft and achieve a higher level of performance.
It builds upon the foundational skills acquired in the Scene Study class, which is a prerequisite, and is not suitable for beginners.
One role for 6 months. To study the art of acting with a focus on one character for an extended period gives you a rare opportunity in the art of acting. Discover how far you can stretch yourself.
Role Immersion incorporates our entire acting curriculum, with filmed exercises as well as active coaching and a final filmed performance.

Level 1 – 6 weeks
An initial study of the role and character with an analytical perspective after which you will find your connection to the role.
Breaking down the story and your role:
Script analysis: Breaking down the script for discovery. Look at specifics such as location, time piece, wardrobe, relationships, career, obstacles, objectives and the story itself. 6 weeks to have the complete script read.
Super task: Relating to the deepest need of the character: this is an exercise to find how you will personally relate to the role at the deepest level.
Character interview:
Answering questions in character, is an exploratory exercise rather than a performance. This exercise allows the actor to open up their ideas on how they view the character and how they will perform the role.
Obstacles to the Super Task:
Relating to the deepest need of the character. This is an exercise to find hoe you will personally relate to the role at the deepest level.

Level 2 – 6 weeks
Live in the world of your character:
Begin the journey of making the role your own by identifying the specifics of the character’s behavior, opinions and reactions. Monologues and final scenes are chosen and used as the focal point for your work.
Humor: Find the humor in the script and the character
Deeper Realism: Answering questions in character at the deepest level grounded in realism.
Relationship and Behavior: Explore the characters relationship(s) and behavior.
Relationship Study & Reflection:
In an active discovery exercise: scene partners face each other and reflect openly and honest on their relationship. Actors are in character displaying a view of the bigger picture.
Obstacles to the Scene Objective: A preparation exercise for the final performance. Whether working on a monologue or a scene, the actor looks at all aspects that hinders them from achieving their scene objective.
Level 3 – 6 Weeks
Physicalize the Role:
To date, you have been developing the internal life of the character. You feel clear about how the character thinks and feels in their day-to-day interactions. Now, it’s time to step into their world, adjusting your movement, voice and actions. The world presents the external life of the character.

Level 4 – 6 weeks
Final Rehearsals, scene and monologue filming
It’s time to bring everything together for active discovery in rehearsals. Learn to absorb and take directions with a focus on presence and immediacy in character.
Filmed Exercises:
All scenes and monologues are filmed and edit. A call sheet will be provided close to the final class.
